Mobile cold rooms, delivered in 8-12 weeks

The mobile format is our core range: a complete containerised cold room — insulated, fitted with its refrigeration unit and pre-charged with R290 — set down on your slab and connected to 3-phase 400 V. Turnkey delivery across France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

Mobile cold room container 20 m³ · R290

A mobile cold room is the opposite of a built structure. No site works, no panels to assemble, no months of coordination. The container arrives on a crane lorry, is set down on a concrete slab or levelling feet, connected electrically, and runs the same day. It is the format that transforms life for seasonal operations (game, events, market gardening) and for anyone who wants to avoid a building project (butchers relocating, restaurants under refurbishment).

When to choose mobile over a built room

Three situations make mobile unbeatable. First: you are short on time — a game season starting in September, a market opening in April, a fixed-term contract. Second: you want to protect your property assets or you rent your premises — the container is movable plant, so it is depreciable and relocatable. Third: your need is seasonal or variable — you can resell the unit, mothball it, or even hire it out to a peer in the off-season.

The R290 strategy and the 30 m³ limit

All our models ≤ 30 m³ are delivered pre-charged with R290 (propane), a natural refrigerant with a GWP of 3 — against the 1,400 to 3,900 of the HFCs that F-Gas regulation is progressively phasing out. Above 30 m³ the propane charge exceeds the ATEX threshold in an enclosed space: we then deliver the room empty and our network of certified F-Gas engineers carries out on-site charging (R290 or R744 to spec). More logistics, but compliant and durable.

Delivery logistics

Factory lead time to mainland Europe: 8 to 12 weeks from signing, covering manufacture (3-4 weeks), sea freight (4-5 weeks), customs clearance (1 week) and inland delivery. A crane lorry (HIAB) is required for unloading — we supply the lifting arm with 5 days' notice. A 15 cm reinforced concrete slab is recommended for 20 m³ and above; steel levelling on stabilised ground is acceptable for a 10 m³.

10m3 Cold Room — Compact, Movable R290 Unit

The 10 m³ (roughly 350 cu ft) is our entry point: the most compact small cold room that still works as a genuine professional unit. It arrives pre-charged with R290, runs on a standard 230 V single-phase supply, and can be sited almost anywhere without a heavy concrete slab. A best-seller for game-hunting groups, small butchers, florists and restaurants on temporary premises.

20m3 Cold Room — The R290 Core of the Range

The 20 m³ (roughly 700 cu ft) is our best-seller. It has the capacity for a wholesale butcher, an active hunting syndicate, a mid-sized restaurant or a market garden handling post-harvest stock. Pre-charged with R290, 100 mm PIR insulation, 400 V three-phase. This is the format where the cost per m³ is at its best.

30m3 Cold Room — The Limit of R290 Pre-Charge

30 m³ (roughly 1,060 cu ft) is the boundary of our pre-charged R290 catalogue. It is the format for farms handling post-harvest stock, caterers with large seasonal volumes, wholesale butchers and shared hunting estates. Above this point we switch to empty delivery, with the unit charged on site by a certified F-Gas engineer.

Questions fréquentes

Can a mobile cold room be moved after installation?

Yes. That is the whole appeal of the format: your unit can be lifted by crane and relocated to another site. Just disconnect the power and transport it empty (clear the product first). For R290 pre-charged models, relocation needs no gas recovery because the circuit stays hermetic.

What concrete slab do I need?

For a standard 20 m³ (about 6 t fully loaded), a 15 cm reinforced concrete slab poured on a compacted gravel bed is sufficient. For freezers ≥ 30 m³ with dense storage, allow 18 cm. A 10 m³ can sit on steel levelling or concrete pads provided the ground is stabilised (compacted gravel or tarmac). We supply the foundation drawings with the quote.

How much does delivery cost?

We deliver to France, Germany, Italy and Spain. A flat supplement of €800 to €1,800 + VAT applies depending on distance and site access. The crane lorry for unloading is included for 10 and 20 m³ units; above that, a specific quote applies (mobile crane needs above 8 t).

My supply is single-phase 230 V — is that compatible?

A 10 m³ runs on single-phase 230 V (16 A dedicated minimum, ideally 25 A). A 20 m³ and above need 3-phase 400 V (32 A for a chiller, 40 A for a freezer). If your site is not equipped, two options: a grid connection (allow 6-12 weeks plus connection cost), or a diesel generator (hire or buy). Our technical team will steer you to the best solution in the quote.

What is the difference from a built sandwich-panel cold room?

Three major differences. Lead time: 8-12 weeks for mobile, vs 4-8 months for a built room (survey, groundworks, slab, assembly, connection). Mobility: a built room is fixed property, the mobile one stays movable plant. Price: at equal volume, mobile is generally 20-35% cheaper on total cost of ownership, especially if you value lead time and flexibility.

What is the lead time from signing to a working room?

Standard: 8 to 12 weeks depending on model and configuration (10/20 m³ catalogue, bespoke, dual-temperature or high capacity). The clock starts when we receive your 50% deposit. You get a detailed schedule with milestones: factory manufacture, loading, port arrival, customs clearance and delivery.
